Thanks for visiting Camden central family practice -Cosmetics, Please see below for Aftercare instructions following your wrinkle treatments.
Botulinum toxin is used to treat wrinkles, lines, brows, neck, lower facial fullness, and excessive sweating. Results begin to take effect after 3-5 days and can take up to 14 days to show in full. Results typically last up to three months.
The following should be avoided post wrinkle treatment:
- Applying makeup for at least 4 hours post procedure.
- Lying flat for 4 hours.
- Extreme temperatures for 48 hours.
- Swimming for 48 hours.
- Applying excessive pressure to treated areas for 48 hours.
- Rubbing the treated area for 3-5 days.
To decrease the risk of bruising you may apply a covered ice pack to the skin for 20 minutes at a time in 2-hour intervals. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
What is normal?
You may experience the following:
- Short-lived headaches that may be treated with paracetamol.
- Mild redness and itching.
- Post treatment redness/tenderness at the injection points will reduce within 1-2 hours.
- Asymmetry may be normal in the first 1-2 weeks as different facial regions may respond at different times.
- Bruising occurs in 1 in 20 patients. This can be easily covered in makeup and will resolve in 3-7 days.
- Rarely, you may notice a hitching up of one of your brows if you have had forehead treatments. This is called spocking and is easily fixed with a tiny injection just above the brow. You should call our clinic and we will fit you in anytime for a quick touch up.

Follow up
Please schedule your review appointment 14 days after your treatment.
Patients who attend their review within this period may receive a one-off complimentary adjustment (limited units), if clinically indicated and at the practitioner’s discretion, to help achieve the treatment outcome discussed during the consultation.
Adjustments requested outside the agreed treatment expectations or after the 14-day review period will incur additional fees.
Adjustments cannot be performed before 14 days have elapsed, as botulinum toxin treatment requires this time to reach its full effect. Earlier treatment may increase the risk of overcorrection.
Complimentary adjustments are not available for masseter reduction or hyperhidrosis treatments.
