Dermal Fillers Aftercare

The premium dermal filler range used at our Clinic is TGA approved and last between 6-18months depending on the specific filler used.

The following should be avoided post dermal filler injections:

  • Applying makeup for at least 4 hours post procedure
  • Lying flat for 4 hours
  • Strenuous exercise for 24 hours post treatment
  • Extreme temperatures for 48 hours
  • Swimming for 48 hours
  • Applying excessive pressure to treated areas for 48 hours
  • Facials/facial waxing, peels, IPL, laser therapies or dermabrasion for 2 weeks.

To decrease the risk of bruising you may apply a covered ice pack to the skin for 20 minutes at a time in 2-hour intervals on the day of treatment. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.

If you have a history of cold sores your cosmetic physician may suggest a short course of acyclovir in the days pre and post treatment.

You may gently massage any small lumps as directed by your cosmetic medical professional.

What is normal?

You may experience the following:

  • Post treatment redness/tenderness at the injection points will reduce within 1-2 hours
  • Bruising occurs in 1 in 10 patients. This can be easily covered with makeup and will resolve in 3-7 days
  • Minor lumps/bumps that may be gently massaged out
